Every project presents its own challenges, but our greatest with Pickles was less to do with design and more about completing the construction within a very short timeframe – ensuring the space was fully functional and ready for operations before the New Year. Precise project management, creativity, and a team of trusted staff and contractors undertook the project and we’re exceptionally proud of the result we’ve achieved together.
Collaboration and regular communication was key to the success of this project. We worked closely with the team at Pickles and came up with cost-saving, creative solutions to any hurdles we encountered along the way.
For the Pickles team to get the most out of their facilities, we removed a large section of the Level 1 concrete floor to make way for a new steel and timber staircase. This catered directly for the high traffic between floors and aesthetically, offered an eye-catching feature to connect the two spaces.
New electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services (including security AV) were sourced, supplied, and installed by the team at Merit – bringing the business up-to-date with essential services and security technology.
Upgrading the look
While staying on-brand with the blue/grey colour palette, Merit lifted the mood of the space with green walls, indoor plants, timber and steel features, and a combination of standard and tall seating and desks.
The expansive staircase, high ceilings and abundance of lighting assisted in opening up the environment.
New bespoke joinery and refurbished amenities ensured the design was highly tailored to staff and operational needs. New partition walls with glazed glass provided privacy while allowing light to filter through.
Greater focus on wellness
One of Pickles goals was for the new design to positively contribute to staff culture and wellbeing. The improved lighting, plant life, breakout areas, and new end-of-trip facilities helped the organisation achieve this ambition with great success.
