Dulux has made its colour predictions for another year, and we at Merit Interiors are delighted with what’s in store for 2019. With four exquisite palettes, including Repair, Wholeself, Legacy, and Identity, the broad spectrum of colours has the power to transform any space, inspire a variety of moods, and personalise home or commercial environments with style and mindfulness.
Each palette represents the essence of social trends and global movements.
Dulux Colour and Communications Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr describes the overarching theme, Filter, as a ‘multi-pronged approach to finding the essence of life and favouring the natural and holistic over what is superficial and fleeting…to hone in on what is meaningful and to mindfully tune into what we care about.”
Hearing this affirmed the design direction we’ve been pursuing in our office fitouts – focussing more on collaborative spaces, zones to connect, for meditation, for comfort, to invite nature into the workspace. You can read about a recent project of ours here.
But enough about us. Let’s explore the colour predictions.
The four palettes explained
Introducing the Repair, Wholeself, Legacy, and Identity palettes – colours to empower and to nurture.
Repair inspires us to take a step back, unplug, and rekindle our relationship with nature. It favours sustainability, recycling, repurposing and reviving vintage objects and materials.
Wholeself channels the need for calmness and clarity in our high-intensity, always-on ways of living and working. It celebrates minimalism, cosiness, and soothing hues in this wellness inspired palette.
A nod to generations past and future, Legacy combines classic with contemporary flavours to deliver a timeless palette of warm hues and powerful accents.
In a celebration of individualism and life’s beautiful imperfections, Identity is the palette for non-conformists. Clashing colours, patterns, and blocks of boldness challenge predictable design combinations to create a playful, can’t-be-tamed opportunity for designers to have a bit of fun with and inhabitants (of both home and office) to energise within. We’re on-board with the 2019 forecast
The four palettes are so versatile and adaptable to the needs of our diverse clientele and what we set out to achieve for them. We’ve often talked about the benefits of zoning, inviting the outdoors in, and sustainable, environmentally (and people) friendly design – this forecast not only complements our design ethos but offers a stunning collection of colours to enhance the commercial interiors we create.
